As we continue to grow, BinSentry is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Operations to lead and oversee procurement, assembly, installation, and service operations for our innovative feed bin monitoring devices. The Director of Operations will ensure seamless coordination between supply chain, fulfillment, and service teams to deliver high-quality products and services to our customers and manage key partner relationships. The Director of Operations will also support corporate-wide process initiatives to drive a scalable company infrastructure. This role is 100% in Kitchener, Ontario and requires strategic leadership, operational excellence, and collaboration across departments, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations Leadership:
Lead the end-to-end operations, from procurement and assembly to installation and after-sales service. Ensure operational efficiency and effective resource management. Drive key company-wide initiatives to build scalable infrastructure to enable company growth. - Procurement & Supply Chain Management:
Oversee the procurement of raw materials and components for all monitoring devices. Collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager to ensure vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and inventory management meet quality and cost objectives. - Assembly & Production Oversight:
Direct the assembly process, ensuring all production activities meet quality standards and timelines. Work closely with manufacturing partners and in-house teams to optimize assembly workflows and improve production KPIs. - Installation & Field Services:
Manage the installation and field service to ensure devices are installed on time and meet customer expectations. Collaborate with the Service Manager to troubleshoot issues and deliver exceptional customer and field technician support. Monitor service KPIs and implement improvements to enhance customer satisfaction - Fulfillment & Distribution:
Collaborate with the Sr. Fulfillment Manager to ensure timely and accurate delivery of devices to customers. Oversee shipping, logistics, and warehousing to meet customer demand. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with other functional leaders, including Engineering, Sales, Product Development, and Finance, to align operational strategies with overall business goals. Drive cross-departmental projects to improve operational performance. - Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
Identify opportunities to improve operational processes through automation, lean methodologies, and technology enhancements. Implement operational best practices to increase efficiency and reduce costs. - Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports (Supply Chain Manager, Fulfillment Manager, Service Manager and Assembly Manager), fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and teamwork.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in operations management, including procurement, supply chain, and logistics.
- 3+ years in a senior leadership position, ideally within a manufacturing or technology company.
- Experience in hardware assembly and field service management is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on process improvement and operational efficiency.
- Proficient in supply chain and inventory management systems, ERP systems, and other operational tools.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Effective communicator and collaborator, capable of working across departments to achieve shared goals.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
- MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Other Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence in a fast-paced, growing environment.
- Familiarity with technology systems used in company infrastructure and the process of building tools to facilitate company growth and controls
- Familiarity with IoT or sensor-based hardware products is a plus.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to oversee installation sites, vendor operations and corporate events.
