The Director of Business Development role will take primary responsibility for managing co-packing sales activities. This includes introductory meetings with clients, initial scoping conversations, plant tours, managing pricing and customer contract negotiations, and serving as the primary point of contact for client ordering needs. In this role, it will be necessary to interface with the Commercialization Manager, Plant Manager, and technical team to ensure smooth commercialization. The Director of Business Development will be responsible for answering customer questions and managing relationships from inception through post-sale support. This position will also be responsible for maintaining the internal sales pipeline and will be responsible for pipeline reporting to the Management Team and the Board. It is critical that this person be adept at building and fostering relationships within the food industry. This person will be responsible for attending and working trade shows, managing leads, and following up with potential customers.

Duties and responsibilities

Identify high value targets and establish relationships with potential leads

Perform regular outreach to new prospects

Work with existing contacts to build relationships and expand customer base

Manage potential clients through the development effort

Preparation and submission of call reports from customer meetings

Tradeshow attendance and coordination including working booth and lead retrieval

Assist with the preparation and distribution of marketing materials

Host visits and provide tours to prospects as needed

Provide presentations on company capabilities and host client meetings as needed Sales Management

Ongoing relationship management with all active clients

Coordinate with clients through pricing and contract discussion

Act as internal liaison for pipeline customers

Pipeline management and tracking with monthly and quarterly reporting

Qualifications

Specialized knowledge- familiarity with food industry, aseptic processing, industrial manufacturing

Personal characteristics- positive attitude, flexibility, creativity, self-motivated, passionate about food and nutrition, willing to travel

Experience- 10+ years in the food industry with expertise in food processing and customer interface

Uphold SQF requirements including promotion of a strong & positive food safety culture

Active involvement in implementation, upkeep and continuous improvement of food safety as part of an interdisciplinary team
